Josty – the restaurant at Potsdamer Platz
For more than 15 years, the Josty restaurant has been back in the centre of Berlin at the Potsdamer Platz hotspot. Here in the Sony Center, under the roof construction of one of the most spectacular buildings in the country, residents and visitors of Berlin alike come together to share delightful moments in a very special atmosphere.
Come in, leave the hustle and bustle of the big city behind you and enjoy a good meal with interesting conversation. You will be able to altogether forget for a while that you are at Potsdamer Platz, one of the most frantic places in Berlin.
What awaits you at the Josty at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin
If you would like to eat well in the Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz, then the Josty is the place to be. You will experience, in a unique atmosphere, the diversity of the German cuisine, refined with international influences.
The focus of our restaurant’s menu lies in the delicious German cuisine. Of course you will find regional specialties from Berlin such as a hearty roast pork or Schweinshaxe with Spreewälder sauerkraut. In addition to many other classics, international dishes have also found their way onto our menu. The cuisine of Josty’s restaurant excels with its modern interpretations, fresh ingredients and real passion. It is, after all, as diverse as the people visiting Potsdamer Platz.
Whether for breakfast in the morning, a business lunch around noon, coffee and cake in the afternoon or a three-course meal in the evening – our restaurant welcomes you with open arms at any time and on any occasion. We recommend ending your stressful day with one of our delicious cocktails. Surrounded by the atmospheric illumination of the Sony Center, you can relax and clear away the cobwebs.
We accept all standard methods of payment.
One of the restaurant’s highlights: the spacious sun terrace
The restaurant with its classically elegant decor offers room for more than 200 guests indoors. The ground floor has 60 seats and the upper floor provides space for over 160 people. In summer, the restaurant affords further space for approximately 180 people on its cosy and very sunny terrace. For festive occasions, the historic breakfast hall of the former Grand Hotel Esplanade is available to you, which today is a part of the Josty. The Josty is the ideal location in Berlin for events of all kinds – from company parties to wedding receptions.

Potsdamer Platz and the Josty – past and present
The Potsdamer Platz, today as over a 100 years ago, is one of the pivots and transport hubs of Berlin. While it used to separate the former city centre of East Berlin from West Berlin, now it unites them. In the midst of all the bustling activity is our restaurant. Here, everyone comes together: business people, artists, actors, tourists and flâneurs – your typical Berlin crowd. Here, the cultural scene meets at the Berlinale (International Film Festival Berlin), here, the fashion designers come together at one of the many fashion events in town, and here, you will find one of the most important tourist attractions of the capital: the Sony Center.
At the centre of the building are the surviving parts of the Grand Hotel Esplanade, one of Berlin’s most famous hotels in the Golden Twenties. In the Second World War, it was largely destroyed during an air raid, as was the entire Potsdamer Platz. Among the parts that remained intact is the hotel’s breakfast hall, which was dismantled into 500 individual parts during the construction of the Sony Center and rebuilt in another location. We are proud to present the heritage-protected breakfast hall as a part of our restaurant.
Fortunately, the turmoil is a thing of the past. Today, like in the Café Josty in the 1920s and 1930s, you can observe the hustle and bustle at Potsdamer Platz through the modern glass façade. Situated at the centre of Berlin, not far from Berlin Tiergarten, the Josty is the perfect place for visitors to rest and plan further activities in Berlin.
